Chapter 6 Notes

Prediction: After George killed Lennie I knew he felt bad about killing him. And later that day and for the rest of his life he's going to miss Lennie and think about him everyday. George will wonder why he killed him. He would wish he never did it.

Summary: Lennie comes out of the bushes and went to the pool side for a drink. Then he sat and watched the entrance. And Lennie was saying how George was going to say that he wants go be alone without Lennie bothering him. Then a lady came and was talking to Lennie in Lennie's voice. She was saying how that George would do anything for Lennie. Aunt Clara left and then a gigantic rabbit came out of his ear and was saying how George was going to beat him with a stick. Then Lennie was yelling George then George came out the bushes and sat right next to Lennie. Then they were talking about the land they were going to have. Then George pulled out the gun and raised it and hesitated then put it back down and lift it again and steadied it and shot Lennie in the back of the head. Then the rest of the guys came and took George away.

Questions: what caused George to kill Lennie? Why did he lie and say that Lennie had the gun and he took it away and had to shoot him? What did Carlson mean when he said " Now what the hell ya suppose is eatin' them two guys?"

Chapter 1 Notes

ch blog post should demonstrate at least 3 out  of the following 5 areas of critical thinking:

1) Question:  Write down the names of characters involved, as well as where and when the story is taking place at this point in the text.  Next, write down questions you have about the story or characters, and any questions about the reading that you did not understand and would like clarification.

2) Prediction:  Write down your prediction for what you think will happen next in the story. Don’t forget to explain what happened in this chapter that helped you form this prediction.

3) Connection:  Write down anything that you found familiar:  either a situation you have experienced, a character that reminds you of someone, or an event from the story that is similar to something you have already read.  *Remember to use good technology ethics!  Do not expose names of people anyone could or would know.  Use good judgement!

4) Summarize:  Re-tell, in your own words, the main plot and important details of your reading. Your summary should not be more than about a paragraph, or 5-7 sentences.

5) Reflect:  Write down any quotes, sayings, or moments that affect you in some way.  So far, what do you think is the reason the author wrote this book?  Are there any themes you recognize?  Do you like the book so far?  Why or why not?  What changes could be made so that you understand or connect with the story better?

Question:Why does George bring Lennie instead of a girlfriend? What nationally are they? Does Lennie have memory loss?

Summarize: They are heading on the road to find another job. They stop in the middle of the road because they have no where to sleep. Lennie has 2 dead mice in his pocket and George would not let Lennie keep them. They talk about how Lennie needs to not say anything bad about then farm. George fears that Lennie is going to do the same thing he did at the old farm which cost them there jobs.
